Maryland rapper IDK, formerly Jay IDK, had his rap name trademarked this week after expecting a long wait.

The 29-year-old rapper has had a successful year teaching “No Label Academy” at Harvard and giving guidance to new artists. He further demonstrated the importance of promoting oneself as an artist and protecting one’s trademark by doing so himself.

On Thursday, IDK announced that after years of effort, they had achieved ownership of the ‘IDK’ trademark. They then cautioned others to “talk to me before you use this shit.”

He can’t direct the daily use of “IDK” in messages, yet he has trademark paperwork that allows him to take action against anyone trying to sell unauthorised merchandise.

Congratulations to IDK for getting his trademark.

Earlier this year, the rapper had a partnership with Nike and discussed his joint effort with MF DOOM, Westside Gunn, and Jay Electronica in an interview.
