Usain Bolt, former Olympic 100m champion from Jamaica, has applied to trademark his iconic celebration pose as a logo.

The US Patent and Trademark Office received a logo of an iconic sprinter pointing upwards.

Josh Gerben, a trademark attorney, shared that Usain Bolt wishes to use his logo on an array of items such as sunglasses and jewellery through to sporting goods. It may also appear in bars and restaurants.

Bolt achieved an outstanding career, winning 8 Olympic titles and 11 world championship golds - now aged 36.

His 2009 Berlin World Championships 100m and 200m records still stand at 9.572s and 19.190s respectively.

Bolt was an icon of world sport, regularly drawing huge crowds and sparking immense interest in athletics.

His iconic running style and outstanding speed earned him worldwide recognition.

After winning races, he would mark the occasion by mimicking a lightning bolt on the track.
